Sync your data from DVDpedia, Bookpedia, CDpedia and Gamepedia on the Mac, search Doghouse - the Pedias own database - to expand your Pocketpedia database or manually add entries to your collections.
Edit entries, search your collections, assign stars and mark entries as borrowed, returned or purchased. Create new collections, move entries or sort them by any field. Take your collections with you and access them anywhere with Pocketpedia, the universal app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Pros and cons of Pocketpedia app for iPhone and iPad
Pocketpedia app good for
With the loss of the original Pocketpedia sync to DVDpedia, there really has not been an app that was able to sync my movie collection properly. I tried (and paid for) solutions that were either inadequate (importing only a couple of fields, no cover art) like MyBoxOffice or frankly buggy like Movielicious. I cant tell you how many times I tried to fix bad "xml imports", convert to a file format that was recognized by the iPhone app without success, how many emails to the developers, forum posts for help… I finally trashed them all. This app syncs perfectly with DVDpedia and I can search my collection easily - no more duplicate purchases! Very useful and will get better with updates. Just remember that if you are in middle of a list, to search your own collection, double tap top centre to bring up search bar (works just like "Contacts"). I cant tell you how happy I am to finally have this functionality back. Thank you!!
As a long time fan of DVDpedia on my Mac I was so excited to finally get this app. It sync seamlessly with my Mac and now I have my entire collection with me on the go. No more buying movies I already have :). Customer service from the developer is absolutely first rate. I would recommend this App as well as all the Pedia Mac apps unconditionally.
I miss my old library but am delighted I can carry my new one around with me. This is an excellent app. Well done!
Pros: attractive interface, good integration with Bookpedia. The barcode scanner works pretty well, although it has some difficulty with shiny books.
Cons:
When scanning directly into the iPhone (as opposed to using the app as a tool for scanning into Bookpedia, which requires a you to have access to your computer, a wifi connection, and BP running), you only have access to the apps native database (doghouse), which is not complete.
You cant edit any entries on-the-go from within the app, only within Bookpedia.
Overall: Works best as a remote scanner for Bookpedia - and when used that way, works very well. Scans multiple items quickly and easily and warns you of items youve already catalogued.
Finally the app Ive been waiting for since I keep inventory of all my tons of books through Bookpedia. Very well done.
After so many years....finally a new Pocketpedia! Ive synced all my library with CDpedia on Mac and it works perfectly!
Some bad moments
No wonder it cant find anything. I cant believe how much money I wasted on their Mac apps. Back to Libib.
Its an ok app just not worth the money I mean most of the books I have cant be found on doghouse search which is a shame since I have to add them manually. Defeats the point of getting this app. Other than that its an average library app. Not worth $3.99.
I can now stop creating a pdf of my DVDpedia library and use this great app. It syncs with your installed application on your computer quickly and easily. This makes staying up-to-date very easy.
Thank you, thank you , thank you… Have been waiting, you know how long. Downloaded, installed and Synced without any problem. I gave it 5 starts because it works perfectly. Ill use it for a few days and report back if necessary...
Been waiting for the app to be released and I was not disappointed. Syncing is a quick, single step. Having my extensive DBD and CD collection on the iPad is great. Getting CDpedia also was an unexpected bonus.
Now I have the app, I can dump MoviesHD which required a multi step conversion from DVDpedia and has had a multitude of unresolved problems.
Pocketpedia3 JUST WORKS!
So excited I can finally sync everything! And over wifi!! So far, seems to be well worth the wait :) thanks for making a great product.
